About me
I love to find compositions that 'arrest' me. I want to portray a deeper beauty than just what makes a "pretty picture" because I'm not trying to decorate a wall. I prefer to depict the "reverie" of a scene. I paint allegories that aren't obvious, but take some thought to interpret, juxtapositions of forces, dazzling light against obscurring shadow, busy detail contrasting with seamless open space, flowing vapors or liquids against what stands hard and resolute, things living and dynamic overcoming what's dead and inert.
I aim to depict things you can stare at the way you look into a campfire or watch the waves at the sea shore.
